We are an outreach branch of the University of Tennessee, providing services and opportunities to the residents of Carter County.

We are funded through a cooperative agreement between federal, state and county governments. All of our programs
are offered to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability and we are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Bedford County is located in Middle Tennessee, about an hour south of Nashville and is known for Tennessee Walking Horses and pencil factories. Shelbyville is the home of the National Walking Horse Celebration and is the county seat of Bedford County. Bedford County has a population of 45,947 with 474 square miles and has several outlying towns as well including Bell Buckle, Normandy, Wartrace and Unionville (unincorporated).
